Dating Safety
Last updated: June 5, 2026
Joviel works hard to keep this a community of real, verified people — but no online service can fully guarantee anyone's identity or intentions. Please read this safety information carefully before and while you use Joviel.
Joviel does not conduct criminal background screenings or identity verification checks of its members beyond the verification steps described on this page. Joviel does not run criminal background checks.
Verification — what we do and don't do
Joviel asks members to complete identity and “liveness” verification to reduce bots, fake profiles, and impersonation. This helps, but it is not a criminal background check and cannot guarantee that any member is who they claim to be or is safe to meet. Use your own judgment at all times.
Safety-awareness notice
There is no substitute for acting with caution when communicating with any stranger who wants to meet you. Anyone who is able to commit identity theft can also falsify a dating profile.
- Never include your last name, email address, home address, phone number, place of work, or other identifying information in your profile or initial messages.
- Stop communicating with anyone who pressures you for personal or financial information, or who attempts to trick you into revealing it.
- Be especially wary of anyone who quickly professes strong feelings, asks for money or gifts, or refuses to meet or video-chat.
Meeting in person
If you choose to meet another member face-to-face:
- Always tell a friend or family member where you are going and when you expect to return.
- Never agree to be picked up at your home; provide your own transportation to and from the date.
- Meet in a public place with many people around, and stay in public.
- Trust your instincts and leave if you feel uncomfortable.
Reporting
